We love to read, especially books and stories by women, about women, whom we can identify with and who inspire us. We own a bunch of books and it was not easy putting together this top 10 list, but after some discussion, we choose these:

1. “Lean IN” – Sheryl Sandberg
Although 50% of US women are graduates, men still hold the majority of leadership in business and politics. In a world where half the population is female, than half of leadership positions should be filled by women, but that isn’t happening. Sheryl Sandberg gives us great insight about why women aren’t achieving this, and how women empowerment could change it. This book is very inspiring, especially for women that feel the need to build self-confidence, in order to take the next step.

2. “GirlBoss” – Sofia Amoruso
A very light and fast read with a great inspirational story. A perfect book for a woman that wants to start a business and wants to get the inside scoop on how several situations can be fixed, even when you think you can’t do it. If you have no experience, just keep going and keep learning.

3. “My Life on the Road” – Gloria Steinem
Imagine having dinner with Gloria Steinem and what great conversation would ensue. That’s exactly what you’ll find in this book. It’s a journalist’s road book, both engaging and moving. The strangers you meet in life can become your friends and the openness you choose to live with, regardless of who you are or where you came from, can turn an ordinary life into an extraordinary one.

4. “100 Portuguesas com História” - Anabela Natário
Women are often forgotten and this book does a great job of not letting that happen. From the 5th to the 20th century, you can experience the Portuguese story by these incredible women. Get to know the lives of 100 amazing women – we’re positive you’ll find it compelling and unforgettable.

Women are getting more and more into creative business. This book features 100 of influential and creative women from all races, ages, industries and backgrounds. You’ll find great advice in these interviews, not just for your business, but for your personal life as well.

6. “Not that Kind of Girl” – Lena Dunham
If you liked the TV series Girls, created and directed by Lena Dunham, you will enjoy this book. The dark humor and undertones are just on point. The author gives you her personal view of experiences such as being alone, falling in love, be overweight or having to prove yourself to men.

7. “The Good Women of China” – Xinram
A must read for anyone interested in China or gender issues, this book features the life of modern and ancient Chinese women: a cruel reality of women in this country, highlighting the difficulties that women have surpassed in China and that are usually untold.

If you’re thinking about going into the beauty industry, like Jo Malone, this is a must read. This book is also great for any entrepreneur. It’s fabulous for those moments when you think you can’t do it, but then everything passes and you make it through. Just follow your dreams and never forget where you came from.

These women were asked five crucial questions about happiness, sorrow and meaning. All over the world, whether they were rich or poor, white or black, educated or non-educated, famous or unknown, 200 women were photographed and interviewed. Plus, the best part is that a part of the proceeds go towards organizations that empower women around the world . Inside this book you’ll find Gillian Anderson, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Whoopi Goldberg, Jane Goodall, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela and Roxane Gay, among others.
